Mission Statement Analyzer
Does your mission statement actually tell people why you exist,
or does it just describe what you do?
Most business owners have a mission statement. Very few have one that is doing its job.
A weak mission statement sounds like a job description. A strong one tells your team, your customers, and your community exactly why your business exists, and why that matters to them.
The ULGM Mission Statement Analyzer scores your statement against the 5W+H Framework, the same step-by-step method taught inside the Ultimate Lead Generation Mastery program. You will find out whether your WHY, WHO, WHAT, HOW, and WHERE are present, how well your statement is crafted for real-world use, and whether it reads like a mission statement or a vision statement in disguise.
You get three attempts per session. No suggestions are provided because learning to build your own mission statement is the point. The framework shows you what to fix. The thinking is yours.

What Is a Mission Statement?
How the 5W+H Framework Scores Your Mission Statement
The ULGM Mission Statement Analyzer scores your statement across three components using the 5W+H Framework, a structured approach that ensures your mission statement covers the essential ground without wasting words.
Component 1: 5W+H Coverage (50 Points + 5 Bonus)
This component checks whether your statement answers the essential elements:
WHY (your purpose and reason for existing)
WHO (your target audience)
WHAT (your core activity or service)
HOW (your method, values, or approach)
An optional WHERE element adds points for geographic or operating context.
A bonus is available if your business name is clearly present.
WHY carries the most weight (20 points), because a mission statement without a purpose is simply a business description.
Component 2: Statement Craft (25 Points)
This component has two parts.
Part A: Element Density
Rewards how many of the five core 5W+H elements you managed to fit into a single coherent statement.
Part B: Teachable Length
Rewards statements in the 10 to 30 word range, where a mission statement is complete enough to be meaningful while remaining memorable and actionable.
Component 3: Mission Quality (25 Points)
This component measures whether your statement actually functions as a mission statement, not just whether it contains the correct elements.
It evaluates whether your statement:
Is present-focused rather than future-oriented.
Speaks directly to the people you serve and shows how they benefit.
Uses plain, action-oriented language free of buzzwords and jargon.
Frequently Asked Questions
A mission statement describes what you do today, your purpose, your audience, and your approach.
A vision statement describes where you are going, your aspirational future state, typically anchored to a specific timeframe.
Your mission answers:
Why do we exist right now?
Your vision answers:
What will we become?
Both are essential, and both are scored separately in the ULGM analyzer series.
The ULGM framework scores the 10 to 30 word range as ideal.
That length is long enough to include your WHY, WHO, WHAT, and HOW, while remaining memorable and actionable.
Statements under seven words rarely have enough substance.
Statements over 75 words usually lose focus and are rarely remembered or used.
Real-world benchmarks:
• Google: 14 words
• Amazon: 24 words
• Starbucks: 30 words
A mission statement without a purpose is simply a business description.
A mission statement without a defined audience is generic enough to apply to almost any business.
These two elements, WHY and WHO, are non-negotiable.
If either is missing, the score is capped at 74 regardless of other strengths, placing the statement in the Needs Rewriting tier.
This is not a penalty. It is a signal that the most important work still needs to happen.
A mission statement must be authentic to your business. It should be written in your own voice and reflect your actual values and purpose.
The analyzer identifies which elements are working and which are missing so you can make informed revisions yourself.
Step-by-step guidance for building a complete mission statement is available inside the Ultimate Lead Generation Mastery program with direct coaching from Joe.
100–105: Elite
Your mission statement is present-focused, customer-centered, and purpose-driven.
80–99: Mission Ready
Your statement captures what matters and is ready to represent your brand.
75–79: Strong Draft
You are one focused revision away from being ready.
Below 75: Needs Rewriting
This is completely normal.
A strong mission statement is built step by step, and the framework makes it achievable.
The Theme Awareness section is a coaching tool and does not affect your score.
Before analyzing your statement, you select the themes you intentionally included.
After scoring, the analyzer shows:
Confirmed themes (selected and detected)
Claimed only (selected but not detected)
Detected only (found by the analyzer but not intentionally selected)
It serves as a mirror for your intentionality as a writer.
